I would like to welcome you to the launch of LegalWiseNC.com, an internet-based law firm powered by the Law Office of Zachary B. Setzer, PLLC! This site represents the culmination of a huge dream and many hours of planning, preparation, and hard work. I hope that it will achieve my goal of providing flexibility and affordability to the way legal services are provided and accessed in North Carolina.
Because the concept of an online, internet-based, or “virtual” law office is relatively new, the vast majority of the general public has never heard of it. That being the case, I want to take the opportunity in this inaugural LegalWiseNC blog post to tell you all about it.
A virtual law office, or VLO, allows lawyers and clients to work together over the internet and allows lawyers to provide many common services without the need for an in-person meeting with the client. Because not all services can be delivered over the internet and to keep costs as low as possible for our clients, we offer “unbundled” legal services. In the traditional, full-service model of law practice, a client hires an attorney to handle an entire matter from start to finish, and the attorney does everything necessary to get from A to Z. It’s a great service, but of course it can become very, very expensive. In the unbundled legal services model, a client hires an attorney in a more limited scope. For example, instead of hiring a full service attorney to handle your entire divorce (a costly service indeed), you may be able to hire an attorney for the limited purpose of drafting a separation agreement or complaint for absolute divorce, saving thousands of dollars in the process. And even though you don’t pay for full service representation, you still have the full protection of the Attorney-Client relationship and an attorney who answers to the North Carolina State Bar.
Using a client portal protected by the same security measures employed in online banking, clients are able to browse and purchase legal documents, advice, and other services. The vast majority of our services are provided at a fixed fee, so you don’t have to worry about any surprises or hidden costs! Just register your account, log into your MyClientAffairs page, and choose the service you need.
If you need a legal document, whether it is a Will and Testament, Articles of Incorporation for your new business startup, or any other document, simply select the document type and complete the questionnaire. You can save your progress for later, and you can complete your questionnaire with no obligation. Once you commit to purchase and pay the fixed fee, your document will be submitted to me for attorney review. After review, your document will be available for download. If you have questions or need advice or guidance, we are only a phone call or email away—every purchase includes the legal advice necessary to make sure you get exactly what you need.
For other services, such as court coaching or legal advice, you can schedule an appointment through MyClientAffairs as well. We offer communication with clients via email, telephone, and video chat!
This blog will be updated frequently with legal news, changes in the law, and hopefully some general and local interest posts as well, so check back often. In the meantime, please enjoy the site and let us know if we can be of service in any way. Thanks for visiting!
